RUNWAY RUNDOWN : LANVIN FW12

i’m assuming i don’t have to explain lanvin to you.

the oldest french couture house, the re-invention under alber elbaz, lukas ossenjdriver?

the explosion in luxe crossed with athletic, the unapologetic use of women’s fabrics in menswear (grograin trim on your blazer?  that’s lanvin.  suede and patent on your sneakers?  lanvin.)

if there is a show that pushes menswear forward into the feminine, time and again, and still seems modern and young … lanvin.

the landis adores the lanvin.

here’s why this season :  silhouette.  all new.

a pinched waist.  a straight leg pant.  a STRONG shoulder.

then, an athletic shoe.  a BRIEFCASE.  it all felt wrong.

which in fashion, gentlemen, means it’s new, and it’s probably going to feel right in about six months.

and the colors.  not vivid. but what they call “make-up” colors (SO GIRL, now so interesting) like blush, peach, pastel blue.  

great stripes. lanvin loves a big stripe.

and i loved the use of fur.  weird.  wonderful.  a little uncontrolled.  a little seussian.

the above wooly shearling rocks.

and how about the shoes?

do we need another way to carry our ipads?  what about in vivid color … and croc?

and for evening?  prepare to rethink the white shirt :
